Anti-Wrinkle Treatments - Botox®, Azzalure®
Botox® and Azzalure® are prescription only medicines (POM) and can only be be prescribed for you following a consultation with our Independent Nurse Prescriber. They belong to a group of medicines called Botulinum Toxin Type A. Our preferred brand of toxin is Azzalure®.

Relaxing Lines
Azzalure® can be used to treat lines that are caused by muscle contraction such as frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and crows feet from smiling. The Azzalure® treatment process is very simple however and relatively painfree. At Wow Aesthetics we use the finest needles on the market to ensure your maximum comfort. Your individual facial muscles will be assessed and a treatment plan devised, and pre treatment photographs will be taken to enable us to monitor the effects of your treatment. The injection process then takes a few minutes with most clients reporting a "popping" sensation rather than pain. You will be given a review appointment for 2-3 weeks after your initial treatment. This is to ensure you have achieved the optimum result possible, and you may require some further treatment at this time which is free of charge. Many people refer to this as a "top up", but this does not mean that your treatment results last longer, it is merely to perfect your outcome. Results typically last 3-6 months but for some individuals it is normal for some movement to return 6-8 weeks after treatment. |
Keeping Dry
Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating can be very embarrassing affecting the sufferer emotionally, psychologically, socially and of course, physically. Many sufferers choose clothes with great care and avoid social events where their sweating maybe more noticeable. They may need to shower or change clothes several times per day and they restrict their choice of clothing to try to minimise the appearance of sweat.
Botox® treatment helps control the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when anti-perspirants do not work well enough. Botox® works by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. Botox® injections are expected to temporarily stop the production of excessive sweat in the treated areas only. Results typically last 6 months. On the day of treatment you may shower or bathe but it is important not to use any anti-perspirant. So that we can detect where your active sweat glands are we use the starch test. This involves painting your underarms with iodine and dusting over the area with corn flour. The iodine and corn flour will react with the sweat turning the area black. This is the area we will target with tiny amounts of Botox. |
